Hi Riana
Many thanks for this. I didn’t know about it. It’s La cathédrale Sainte-Marie in Bayonne. It’s on the pilgrimage route to Santiago so is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It looks magnificent, and is compared to Chartres. I will update my article and add it. Once again, many thanks!

There is a cathedral up on instagram France Hidden Gems (with no title reference) right now in the Basque country of France, it is similar to Chatres, but has two identical intricate spires.. I cant find it on Google. Can you possibly help? Thank you, Riana

Thank you so much. I didn’t know about the Coventry tapestry as I’m not a specialist in tapestries. I imagine that “Erras creation” is a typo for ‘Arras’ which was the centre of tapestry production in the 14/15th centuries. I am sure you know this interesting fact but for those new to tapestry in France: “Arras” came to mean a tapestry that’s hung as a decoration, especially one decorated with complex stitched designs. There’s a famous reference to an arras in Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, when Polonius hides in an alcove behind an arras to eavesdrop.

Could you please indulge me …..?
There is a tapastery I think you’d be interested in that perhaps you’ve not heard of or seen. It’s in the St Marys Guild Hall, Coventry. England. I’ll leave you the link here

They have some information, but by no means enough. Please take a look & see what you think. It’s been pretty much in continuous situ., for 500 years (apart from WWII when it was removed before the complete destruction of Coventry in the Blitz. They belueve it was created in Flanders but, I think it’s an Erras creation.

Anyway, thank you for posting this amazing and fascinating.

You wrote, for Beauvais Cathedral, “The interior vaults are over 155 metres high”. You really meant 155 feet high, right?
