Hello Jane

Thank you so much for this; that is so good of you. I will now correct my copy. It’s difficult to find the reference to Poitiers in most of the quick biographies of Eleanor. I am not sure if I just assumed it was Le Mans, but so pleased to be corrected. I went to the Poitiers cathedral site to find the information.
I loved Le Mans; a great and surprising city!

Hello Mary Anne
Love your descriptions of Le Mans which I explored in June. I’ll have to re-visit when the Plantagenet museum is open as missed the enamel plate from Geoffrey’s tomb.

One thing I would query … Henry and Eleanor were married in Poitiers cathedral in 1152 ( which I also visited), not Le Mans. There is a wonderful window at Poitiers donated by H & E some years later, depicting them dedicating the window and showing four of their sons alongside them.
